BEYOND
RULE: IN THE LENSE OF WITTGINSTIEN LANGAUGE GAMES
(Joshua Peliño, BA-Philosophy 3)
Language games is the relation
between the use of each language and how it is like playing a game according to
certain rules. Every language game is different, each governed by their own
unique set of rules. Language is defined not as a system of representation but
as a system of devices for engaging in various sorts of social activity, hence
‘the meaning of the word is its use in the language’. (Weerasekara, 2013).
Language games is simple rules ion
every language we ought to use. By the use of this way, we can actually create
a word that is capable of explaining things and other communication styles. By
this Wittgenstein uses this kind of method in a way that it explains the
capacity to men to formulate words and create new sets of words with the use of
this language games.
The rules in which the speaker and
the listener will understand each other. By this rule many games and other
recreational games will use this language games in order to set the rule in the
games, by this they have the capacity to understand easily the set of rules by
putting words on it. Rules may vary in the process of usage and how it will be
formulated.
But I think that this kind of notion
will create a commotion between the use of it. Language must be understandable,
and the rule must be understandable not by a limited person but all. Language
is universal and the set of rules created by the language games must also
introduce in order to avoid misconception and mis understanding.
I believe that this language games
is helpful but we should also consider that beyond this rule we can formulate
language that is universal, even if the use is limited we should consider the
fact that others may capable of knowing the rule.
Indeed, language games is important
to be able to set the rule and to set a harmonious language we have. Language
is dynamic and it must be evolved through time and language games is the best
example that we can easily understand with the help of this notion, but we
should also consider the idea that there is beyond language that we should also
include.
