LOGICAL ARGUMENT
By: Joshua J. Peliño
What is logical argument?
A series of two
or more propositions constructed so that one proposition is supported and one
or more propositions support the conclusion is known as an argument. The word
argumentum, which meant "indication," is derived from Latin. Giving
reasons to prove or defend a position is, in essence, what is meant by the
concept of an argument. One can check the veracity of the premises when
assessing an argument. A strong argument must start with true premises. But one
can also look at the argument's organization. In other words, the argument's
logic may be checked. Logic is the study of how different statements in an
argument relate to one another. Learning the patterns of both strong and weak
arguments is a necessary part of studying logic.
In every
argument we can use logic. In my experience when I was in senior high school,
the teacher wants us to do debate, I pick those person whom I fell that we can
win the given argument. I do effort to argue and give examples to support our
claim but one thing is lack in us and it is coordination and proper use of
argument and the use logic in our debate, to cut the long story short the other
team won because they use logical argument. I did not felt down because we did
not won I realize that it is very important to use the logical terms like
fallacies because it will help the claim intact and actually win an arguments. Logical
argument has different examples like, practical argument, premises, deductive,
inductive, extrapolation, analogy, cold logic and fallacy. These example will
help us to construct a nice logical argument, simple but very meaningful like
for premises, “They were bad employers because they didn’t treat the customer
with respect”. Logical is useful in dealing with other people like conversation
or in new generation, the 21st century learning, the social media.
In our time, the
recent century, people will just focus on practical sense and most of their
action are not critical. We must try to teach them to use these logical terms
for instance in school and in work. Logical argument is not just use for
professional but all person can do it and it is use for day to day bases. We
can actually play with it so that it is easy for us to use it, because when we
use it every day it will easy for us to say it. Logical argument sounds like
hard but if we will try to deal with it. In writing logical argument is
important. In any form of writing, logic would form the basis of a sound
argument. If the argument is not logical, it cannot be further developed into a
good one. Many people including me will find that having a logical argument is
something that comes intuitively. Writing some concept paper, logical argument
is nice to use because somehow it will be valid. We cannot argue with it
because it will gave us proper way to gather and expose an issue.
A claim that has
both a conclusion and a premise in support of it is called an argument. It is a
factual or speculative assertion that is supported by facts or premises. Do not
forget that not all statements are arguments and that some statements may have
several arguments. Arguments may be logical, formal or informal. Argument will
not be good argument if you just focus in outer sense but you must use methods
to make it logical. Nowadays we deal with a appropriate ways of use of logic in
every arguments. You can make decisions with the aid of logic. When trying to
determine the answer to a challenging question, being able to reason correctly
might help point you in the right way. Today, you can easily check if your
decision-making process is supported by logical facts or if it is simply a fast
step-taking method. Logic is also about prioritizing and looking at your
choices with a certain bit of objectivity, which helps you make decisions that
are mostly "right." If the latter, you must alter your
decision-making process. Logical argument uses logical terms and it will make
the claim catchy and understandable.
Lastly, logical
arguments is useful in our life, because we can actually deal with some
professionals and try to debate with them. Logical argument is very fun in
learning but first it will squeeze your mind because you will deal with
memorization and familiarization. Reading as what our professor said is the
very way to learn and understand logic and the philosophy. Yes, it is not easy
to do, but if we do our b\very best we will get there. As I’ve said, we the Gen Z must try to take
logic seriously because in the near future it will really help us so much.
